Publications

The NCG issues digital publications with results of research, study days and symposia in the field of geodesy and geo-informatics:

Occasionally publications outside the mentioned series appear. All publications can be downloaded free of charge.

In addition, annual reports are available from the NCG and predecessors of the NCG:

  • The National Commission for Grade Measurement and Leveling, established by Royal Decree on February 20, 1879 based on advice from the Royal Academy of Sciences (1879-1937)*
  • The National Commission for Geodesy as successor to the National Commission for Grade Measurement and Water Passing (1938-1989)*
  • The Netherlands Geodetic Commission, part of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (1990-2013)
  • The Netherlands Centre for Geodesy and Geo-Informatics (2014-present).

* The archives of both National Commissions are physically housed at the National Archives in The Hague. An overview of the complete inventory is available here as a PDF and the inventory can be found online at the National Archives.

Then there are reports of activities in the Netherlands in the geodetic field (triangular measurements, leveling, gravity measurements, marine geodesy, land movement, satellite measurements, etc.) for the General Assembly of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG) of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG). Reports have also been submitted several times to the Reference Frame Sub-Commission for Europe (EUREF).

  • For the period 1924 to 1929, the reports were published in French with the title ‘Travaux Géodésiques exécutés aux Pays-Bas’
  • For the period 1930 to 1938, the reports were published in English with the title ‘Geodetic Activity in the Netherlands’
  • From 1940 to 1994 the reports were published in English under the title ‘Geodetic Work in the Netherlands’
  • Reports were submitted in English to the Reference Frame Sub-Commission for Europe (EUREF) in the form of National Reports, between 2007 and 2012.
