In the Netherlands

The NCG has participations, both scientific (personnel deployment) and financial, in a number of projects.

GeoSamen

Under the title GeoSamen, government, business and science developed a broadly shared vision of the future of the geosector in 2014, in which the government creates the right preconditions by establishing a basic infrastructure with freely accessible data, and the business community focuses on the development of innovative products, and science continues to push the boundaries of what is technically possible. By making use of each other’s strengths, parties can achieve better results together. Given what the NCG stands for, the activities within the framework of GeoSamen fit one on one into the objectives of the NCG.
A consultation structure has been set up for GeoSamen that consists of a TopTeam and a strategic consultation. In 2019, it was decided to hold a joint consultation. This took place for the first time on June 2, 2020.

GIN/GeoBuzz

The GeoBuzz conference is an initiative of GeoBusiness Netherlands and Geo-Information Netherlands.

International

The Netherlands is represented in the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) and European Spatial Data Research (EuroSDR).

The IUGG
is the international organization dedicated to advancing, promoting, and communicating knowledge of the Earth system, the space environment, and the dynamic processes through which change occurs. Studies are being conducted on the shape of the Earth, gravity and magnetic fields, the dynamics of the Earth as a whole and of its constituent parts, the internal structure, the composition and tectonics of the Earth, the generation of magma, volcanism and rock formation , the hydrological cycle including snow and ice, all aspects of the oceans, atmosphere, ionosphere, magnetosphere and solar-terrestrial relations and similar problems with the moon and other planets.
The IUGG includes international organisations from the disciplines of geophysics, geodesy, geomagnetism, hydrology, meteorology, oceanology, seismology and volcanology. For the Netherlands, seven delegates are represented by the NCG in IUGG.
The NCG runs the secretariat of the Dutch Committee of the IUGG. Participants are scientists from the Boussinesq Center (TUD, UU, UvA, WU), the Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research (UU), TU Delft, TNO, KNMI, Deltares and the NCG. The chairman of the Committee is prof. Ramon Hanssen (TU Delft). The organizations involved jointly contribute to the IUGG contribution.

EuroSDR
(European Spatial Data Research) is a not-for-profit European organization in the field of spatial data that connects national Topographical Services and Cadastres with research institutes and universities in Europe in the field of applied research in the collection of geographical information, management of this and the provision of data.
The NCG coordinates the representation of the Netherlands in EuroSDR. The Netherlands is represented in EuroSDR by two persons appointed through the NCG. The Board of Delegates meets twice a year.
